Rename

If only one single object is selected in the list of objects, its name appears in the field "Name". Here a new name can be typed in and confirmed by clicking on "Rename".

If the newly chosen object name already exists, the object which originally had this name is renamed. A number in square brackets is added to its name.

Example

A and B are existing objects. If A is renamed as B, then the original object B is renamed as B [1].

Properties

General

Hide object

Selecting the checkbox "Hide object" makes the selected object disappear from the board. It is invisble and cannot be selected on the board anymore. It was not deleted though! All its color and style properties are conserved.

Deselecting the checkbox makes the object reappear on the board.

Alternative:  Hide

Show trace of an object

If this checkbox is checked for the selected object, then its trace is drawn when it is moved. The trace has the same color as the contour of the selected object. The trace can be deleted ( irretrievably) using  Clear trace in the menu "Edit".

Alternative:  Trace

display object as a draft

The selected objects is displayed in light gray and slightly transparent. This enables one to only adumbrate auxiliary objects when in "Draft" mode.

Alternative:  Draft

Contour

The contour color determines the style in which the object is displayed (e.g. color of a point, color of a circle or edges of text).

15 colors are available from a palette. Alternatively colors can also be chosen as rgb values between 0 and 255 and confirmed by hitting the "ENTER"-key.

The throttle labeled "Transparency" determines the transparancy of the object from 0 % (totally opaque) to 100 % (totally transparent).

Clicking on the crossed out field in the bottom right corner of the color palette changes the transparency value to 100 %.

Label

The labeling of points is visible by default. Labelings of all other objects are hidden, i.e. the label color has a transparency value of 100 %.

Just as with the contour color, there are 15 colors available from a color palette. Again colors can also be entered as numbers representing its rgb-values and confirmed by pressing the "ENTER"-key.

The throttle "Transparency" changes the transparency of the label.

Clicking on the crossed out field in the bottom right corner of the color palette makes the objects label disappear.

Fill

The fill color can only be selected for circles, arcs, polygons, angles and groups.

Apart from the 15 colors in the color palette and customized rgb-values, the fill color's transparency can be changed analogously to contour color and label color.

Style

There are various ways to change the style in which an object is displayed depending on its type.

Free point

Checking and unchecking the checkbox "Show coordinates" shows or hides the coordinates of the selected point.

If the checkbox "Set point fixed" is checked, the free point cannot be moved with the mouse anymore.

The Style of points can be changed in  . More information can be found in Style of points.

Exact positioning of points can be achieved using the input fields "x" and "y". The new coordinates are only used if confirmed by clicking on "Apply".

Slider

Checking and unchecking the checkbox "Show coordinates" shows or hides the coordinates of the slider.

The style of sliders can be changed in  . More information can be found in Style of points.

If the checkbox "Set slider unbound" is checked, the slider behaves just like a free point. It is not bound to an object anymore. Deactivating the checkbox makes it jump back to its (binding) object.

Graph slider cannot be unbound from their graph.

If the checkbox "Animated" is active the slider can be set in automated motion with  Start Animation.

Depending on the type of slider there are further options for animation available.

Slider on a line1

The slider moves between the two defining points of the line1. The checkbox "Reverse direction" changes the direction of the movement. In the field "Steps" is an integer that defines how many steps the slider takes on the line1. If changed, the number of steps has to be confirmed by clicking "Apply".

Slider on a polygon

If the checkbox "On Polygon" is checked, the slider moves on the segments confining the polygon.

The slider can also be moved on any segment confining the polygon. The carrier object in this case is the segment and not the polygon.

Slider on a circle

The slider moves on the circle. The checkbox "Clockwise" changes the direction of movement. In the field "Increment in °" is the number of degrees by which the slider is displaced. If changed, the number has to be confirmed by clicking "Apply".

Slider on the graph of a function

The slider moves on the graph of a function. Hereby its x-coordinate is incremented successively by "Increment (in units)". Der Gleiter wandert auf dem Funktionsgraphen. Dabei wird seine x-Koordinate um den Wert im Feld "Schritt in Einheiten" sukzessive erhöht. If changed, the number has to be confirmed by clicking "Apply". If the checkbox "Negative Direction" is checked, the x-coordinate is successively decreased.

Dependent point

Clicking the checkbox "Show coordinates" shows and hides the coordinates of the point selected.
The style of dependent points can be changed in  . More information can be found under Style of points

Point of intersection

Clicking the checkbox "Show coordinates" shows and hides the coordinates of the selected point of intersection.

If the checkbox "indicate construction" is checked, the intersecting objects are displayed around the point of intersection. Everything else is displayed in Draft-mode.

The Style of points of intersection can be changed in  . More information can be found under Style of points

Style of points

The tab "Style" offers a list with different forms of points.

Furthermore it is possible to display a point as a picture. The point is replaced by the picture.

Using the button "Load Image" allows one to open files which are in GIF-, JPG or PNG format.   even supports transparent areas (alpha channel) of imgaes in the GIF format.

Example

The point A is to be replaced by the image baum.gif. The background is transparent (checkered area).

Using the button "Load Image" a picture can be selected. After loading, it appears in the list of forms of points.

The tree appears on the board. Its labeling is hidden.

Changing the background color of the board, also changes the appearance of the image, as it has transparent areas.

The behaviour of the "point" is not affected if an image is used. The image can be selected with the mouse.

The following figure shows that when using transparent images the "point" can only be selected within the visible area.

Line1

Straight lines, rays and line segements can be converted into each other using the buttons "Straight Line", "Ray" and "Line Segment". A ray can be extended beyond the first or the second defining point. Clicking the button "Ray" switches between the two possibilities.

A  parallel,  perpendicular (normal) or  bisecting line of an angle can only be displayed as a straight line.

Arc

An arc can be displayed as a full circle by checking the checkbox "Show full Circle".

Checking the checkboxes "Show Arrow Head (direction of rotation)" and "Show Arrow Head (opposite direction of rotation)" shows an arrow head at the respective end of the arc.

Text

Checking the checkbox "Text unmovable" fixes the text on the board and makes it unmovable by the mouse.

Using the button "Edit Text" opens up the text dialogue. Here the text can be changed and the changes confirmed by clicking on "Apply"

The accuracy of calculations in a text can be set using "Precision" ranging from 0 to 5 decimal places. Automatic is selected by default and the precision is then dependent on the zoom of the board.

Angles

Every angle has a label besides its own unique name. Opposed to other objects it is not the name of the angle, but its label which is displayed. This makes it possible to give more than one angle the same label. Changes in the label have to be confirmed by clicking on "Apply"

The radius of the arc of the angle can be changed using the field "Radius". Changes have to be confirmed by clicking on "Apply".
