It's been a while since last release. Since last release, I
received hundreds of emails. Some are
bug reports, others are feature requests. Thank you very much for your strong
support. I compiled
those emails and come up this release.
This
is build 4 of Java Controller 1.0. I added a FAQ at the end.
Please feel free to send any feedback, or defects to me (david@edonkey2000.com).
Bug fixes or feature enhancement since build 2:
1. Support host name instead of IP address
2. Let user choose save password or not (then prompt)
3. Paste ed2k file link and server link
4. Keep previous search results
5. Internationalization support (German version is available. Build 4
fixed several bugs regarding foreign language)
6. Fixing popup menu is not shown on Linux
and Mac
7. Fixing extended searching does not work
8. Reverse IP address on Mac (it's in fact a core bug)
9. Search from command line is synchronized with the search from GUI
There could be more bug fixes I forgot to write them down. Check this release
and find out.

FAQ for eDonkey Java Controller
1. What is core?
Core is eDonkey Command line client. You can get it from http://www.edonkey2000.com/downloads.html
2. What is the command to run core?
If you run core and Java Controller from the same machine, Java
Controller will launch core for you.
If you run core from another machine, you need to cd to that directory and type
in "./donkey - !" on
Linux/UNIX/Mac and "donkey - !" on Windows.
3. How to get started with eDonkey Java Controller?
Windows user:
Windows user is the luckiest one since I only test Java
Controller on Windows platform. You not only
get a install program for Java Controller, but also it contains least bugs.
After you install the winjed2k_x.exe
you downloaded, you can click on Start Menu - Program - eDonkey2000 - eDonkey
Controller to start the
application. Once you get in the application, click on the first button on the
toolbar. It will launch the local
core and connect to it.
Mac user:
Since I don't have access to a Mac machine, I can't be very
helpful to your guys. I will try to ask someone
make an install program for your guys. For now if you try to run core using
"./donkey", you will probably
get "Permission Denied" or some IO exception.
(The following is quoted from R2D2)
You need to fix it in the Terminal, there are a couple different ways.
chmod a+x ~/Desktop/donkey/eDonkey200/edonkey
Note that you can also drag the edonkey executable file into the terminal to
automatically paste in the path
(after you type in the chmod a+x part of course). That should do the trick,
then switch to that directory and
try the ./donkey again.
Linux user:
I rarely received email from Linux user that saying don’t how to
get started. Looks like most Linux users
are experienced. So help yourselves.
4. How to have my native language version of Java Controller?
Java Controller can display itself in any language if there is a
corresponding resource files. Right now,
there are only English(US) and German(Germany) version resource files. Here is
the step how to add
your own language.
