Saving Data

Back | Contents

Edited data can be saved in either ABI or SCF file formats as follows

  • ABI input files can be saved as ABI files or SCF files
  • SCF input files can be saved as SCF files only.
  • On Solaris all input files are saved as SCF files only.

When a file is first edited it must first be saved as a new file.  This is done by selecting File > Save As… from the menu, or typing shift-cmd S (Mac), or shift-ctrl S (others).

“Save as” opens a dialog window prompting for a new name for the file and format to save it in.  The default name is the existing filename ending in “_copy”.

Note:  When saving a copy of a file, periods in the filename are changed to underscores, except for the last one, typically preceding the file extension proper.

Once the first edits are saved, subsequent edits can be saved by selecting File > Save from the menu, typing cmd S (Mac), or ctrl S (others), or clicking the save icon (diskette) in the Toolbar.

Upon save, a message will appear in the status bar that the file has been saved.
