This file last updated: August 13, 1996 ---- Problem: The "netcon" server option in the Network Configuration menu causes the installation to hang up. Patch: This option should not be selected at initial installation time due to the kind of interaction it tries to do with the user - please install it by running /stand/sysinstall after the system comes up or simply do: pkg_add /cdrom/dists/commerce/netcon/bsd60.tgz -- Problem: If doing a network install and no nameserver value is entered, sysinstall will die with a fatal signal 11 error. Patch: Enter a nameserver value always. If you don't have a name server available, use a value like "10.0.0.1" and don't reference any host names in your installation (use IP addresses only). -- Problem: When installing 30 or more packages in one pass during the initial installation, a "too many processes" failure occurs. Patch: This is due to accumulating tar processes (a bug) and can be avoided by simply choosing fewer packages at initial system installation time. Once the system is up, you can re-enter this section of sysinstall by saying: /stand/sysinstall configPackages and install as many additional packages as you wish. ---- EOF - this file has not been truncated.
