8. Alarms and Panel Support

When KOrganizer starts, it also starts an additional "helper" program called "alarmd" if it is not already running. Alarmd's job is to display alarms as they occur, and to process any actions associated to an alarm. When alarmd is running, it displays an icon in the KDE Panel's "dock" area, which looks like this:

You may only do two things at the moment with this icon, although in the future the functionality may be extended. Clicking on the icon with the left mouse button launches KOrganizer. Clicking on the icon with the right mouse button brings up a small menu. The only option on it currently is to enable or disable alarms.
