The Select Transparency function lets
you specify the transparent color for your image.
If you're creating a file for use on a web page, you may need to specify a transparent color so the image will blend into your background. The select transparency function will do just that. |
Setting Transparency Some image formats, such as GIF, allow you to specify one color to be transparent. When the image is displayed, such as on a web page, the parts of the image which contain that color are not shown. This allows the background of the web page to show through.
Setting the Transparent Color
To set the transparency color, you must be using a file with a format that supports transparency, such as GIF.
If your file is of a different format, convert the file to GIF before continuing.
The transparency color is set in the Image Viewer. To set the transparency color, follow the steps below.
1. | Open the file in the Image Viewer by double clicking on it in the File List. |
2. | Select Set Transparency Color from the Image menu. Keyboard shortcut: press 'X'. |
3. | Your cursor will change to an eye dropper. Click the color in the image to make transparent. |
4. | Save your file. |
Note: Only that exact color will be made transparent. If the entire background does not appear transparent when you use the image, then the background was made up of several colors (such as several shades of white). If you encounter this, try adjusting the color on your image to get the results you want.
